God is a Tiger Fan...

I honestly used to think that GOD is a fan of my beloved Clemson Tigers. I have even heard that streets of gold is loosley translated to mean streets of orange and the Lion of Judah is really a Tiger. (Is that sacreligious?) Well, given the latest going down in Tiger-town (rhyme not intended) I have come to the conclusion that GOD doesn't care one iota about Clemson Football. Now, don't get me wrong, I am certainly not thinking of the latest rumors on the tigernet are because the Big-Guy is AGAINST Clemson, but I have come to the realization that HE probably just doesn't care.
I know many of you who read this (as if MANY people will actually read this) are sports fans. Some of you have a favorite team. You may have come to this conclusion long before now. If you are a Cowboys fan I am almost positive you have (The way this season ended....brutal! Trust me, I feel your pain. Did you watch the Clemson/Boston College game?) What can I say? I'm a little slow.
My point is there are other fans who are also Christians. Who am I to think that the Man Upstairs likes my team better than, say the Carolina Gamecocks (OK, now that WAS sacreligious. I think that my college roommates have rolled over in their graves. Not that they read this or are dead for that matter, but I don't know what the appropriate substitute line would be.) I heard in a movie about the Civil War one of the characters say: "I'm sure God gets tired of being called down on both sides." Of course I am paraphrasing. I don't remember the line exactly, but I am sure you get the point. You know, this could not only apply to athletics, but to other "meaningless" arguments. I'm not talking about the BIG ONES like abortion or homosexuality, but to the less important stuff like: "should we have drums in our worship service?", or "do we baptize at birth, or wait until they are old enough to understand baptism?" A recent fad among our Clemson couple friends was whether or not we should take birth control. The line of thinking was that we could potentially be aborting an unborn featus by taking birth control. I don't know what your thought is, but Annie and I decided we didn't agree. My beautiful wife was worried how others would feel. Me? I just figured we could agree to disagree. Why don't we do more of that these days? Instead, we HAVE to be right. Maybe it's our pride, or maybe not. I'm not sure. As usual, I have gotten off of a tangent, and can't find my way back. So this seems as good a place as any to stop. Have a great day, or night depending on when you read this..

Oh my dear dear cousin... don't you know???

God is a Carolina fan! :-D

My point exactly:
Tommy Bowden, the Clemson Tigers's football coach, after living a full life, died. When he got to heaven, God was showing him around when they came to a modest little house with a faded Tigers flag in the window.

"This house is yours for eternity," said God. "This is very special, not everyone gets a house up here."

The coach felt special, indeed, and walked up to his house. On his way up the porch, he noticed another house just around the corner. It was a 3-story mansion that had a 50 foot tall flagpole with an enormous South Carolina Gamecocks flag, and in every window was the South Carolina logo.

The coach looked at God and said, "God, I'm not trying to be ungrateful, but I have a question. I was a good coach. I went to bowl games, sent a bunch of my players on to the pros, and I turned around the entire Clemson football program."

God said, "So, what's your question?"

"Well," said the coach, "why does Steve Spurrier get a better house than me?"

God responded, "That's not Steve Spurrier's house, it's mine."
