If only we all could be so passionate....

First, a moment of confession: When my lovely wife started her blog I made fun of her for it. Let's be real. The people with blogs are those that like to brag about their kids or their dogs, or the latest goings on with their lives (or so I thought). But now, I REALLY enjoy coming home to read her latest post. Maybe I am a little biased, but I think she has a real knack for it.
Today she blogged about a consuming fire. If you haven't checked it out, you should. ( I am almost positive if you have come to my site, you found it through her site, but just in case.) In her post she mentioned my former roommate's, Dustin, post about worship and father-hood. Needless to say this spawned a trip over to his blog. Both of these posts were different, but had the same basic concept. Annie discussed being consumed by GOD's word, and not being distracted by outside influences. Dustin talked about being so completly pumped that he GETS to worship with his son. I have the same thought to both posts....If only we ALL could be so passionate. Quite frankly, these are two of the most passionate people I know.
To know me is to know that I am (with the exception of a few things) a pretty laid-back guy. Laid back can be loosley translated into unpassionate in some instances. This is one of the things Annie loves to hate about me. (You shouldn't read too much into that. Everything is ok in that area of our marriage.) She is constantly telling me that I am the hardest person to argue with, because I don't fight back. One area I think I am too laid-back in is my faith. I can probably only count on one hand the amount I was consumed and truly worshiped. How sad is that? Most of the time while singing I am focused on how I sound rather than on what I am singing. Recently I have made a conceted effort to not sing, but listen to the words, just so I can "hear" the words.
Now that I am a dad, I want my funny little girl to know GOD. I also hope that she knows how to worship, and that she is comfortable enough to worship in all circumstances. I also hope that I can get over my laid-back self listening worship style and praise right along. Here's hoping we (or at least I) can be that passionate.

The road to passion is accomplished through an honest heart...and by the looks of this post you are well on your way. We really enjoyed reading your post today and will pray for a consuming fire passion to overtake your life! Thanks for the props,
Dustin & Linz
